"CW: Teaching Methods in class" Case

Case Description

Grace is a second-year art major. She is currently fulfilling her second writing course requirement. Her instructor notices that she makes many mechanical and spelling errors. Her in-class essays are brief because she feels that she does not have enough time to complete her thoughts in writing. The essays are often difficult to understand. However, her sustained writing assignments are always submitted on time. For the most part, they are well-written, they lack the errors she has in her in-class writing assignments, but they are still brief. Because of a documented learning disability, Grace has poor spelling but produces well-written papers with the help of spell check and peer proofreaders. Her writing process is very slow because Grace is very conscious of spelling and mechanical errors.

How should the professor help Grace with in-class writing assignments in this course?
