Illustration

A visual representation, comparison, or example that is used to make subject matter easier to understand.

Insomnia

Sleeping disorder characterized by an unsatisfactory quality of sleep characterized by an inability to fall asleep or to stay asleep.

Instrument

In research, a data collection method or protocol. Most common examples are surveys and interview protocols.

Interview

An in-person meeting (or phone call) in which information is obtained from a person on a topic or series of topics. An interview can be closed-ended (person must choose from pre-established responses to a question) or open-ended (person can answer as they choose to a particular question).

Instructional Methods

Methods used by teachers to convey subject material to students. Every method a teacher uses has advantages, disadvantages, and requires some preliminary preparation. There is no one "right" method for teaching a particular lesson, but there are some criteria that pertain to each that can help a teacher make the best decision possible.
