This transcript corresponds to the FAME video on Introduction to Universal Design for Learning Module.

Evette Simmons-Reed, Teacher - Ohio State School for the Blind, Doctoral Candidate, Ohio State University:

In this module, you will learn techniques that will help you organize your class in such a way that it gives everyone an opportunity to learn. I am a third year doctoral student at The Ohio State University in special education. I taught for three years student teachers and pre-service teachers and supervised them in the field. I have had experience having to use the Universal Design for Learning techniques in my instruction, so I can definitely tell you that these techniques work.

The great thing about the Universal Design for Learning module is that they're techniques that you can implement fairly quickly into your classroom. These techniques vary from using a study guide to guided notes to web accessibility, and also writing techniques. The Universal Design for Learning module will be a one-stop shop for those instructors looking for ways to maximize learning in their classroom.

What Universal Design for Learning does, it gives us, individuals with disabilities and individuals without disabilities, the ability to perform at our maximum potential; and when we do that, we build confidence, we build self-esteem, and create a person that can become a productive citizen.
