Dr. Steve Rissing, Professor and Director of Introductory Biology program, The Ohio State University
A lot of us especially in the Sciences have been using Universal Design for Learning for a long time without necessarily realizing it. The opportunity that we are presenting here is that the efforts, the concepts, are all scaffolded for us once we realize that the efforts we are doing are, in fact, explicitly clearly defined as ways to meet the learning needs of all sorts of students, not just those students with learning disabilities. We've built in all of our courses great instructor freedom to experiment and try things.
