Description:

The learning community will enhance its capacity to develop instructional materials that offer a “balanced” view of multilateral trade related issues. This capacity will be developed via the collaborative efforts of core members: Michael Mayo and Frederick Schroath of Kent State University; (United States) Stephane Gauvin of Laval University (Canada) and Robyn Johnson of University of the Americas (UDLA Mexico) The goal is to present NAFTA materials that represent both the trading realities of the respective countries and recognize important similarities and differences in each country’s approach to trade and international investment.

We intend to expand the practice of online instruction in our learning community and to consider new pedagogical and web design approaches to accommodate cross-cultural learning audiences.

The learning community hopes to identify future collaborative programs during the grant period. Already, S. Gauvin of Laval University has proposed that we later expand our work to develop a for-credit graduate course to address a host of NAFTA related topics (e.g., cross-border logistics, strategic planning, comparative e-business legal issues and Internet demographics, etc.).
