Election of Vice Chair

• Karen Wells was elected Vice Chair; motion carried unanimously

The OLN Strategic Plan Update (2000-2002) was examined and discussion followed. 

• Deleted from mission statement: "undereducated" 
• Added to Goal 1: "especially those without college degrees"
• 4th goal needed: "promote economic development through expanding the capacity of colleges and universities"
• Added to point #3: "and institutions" 
• A revised version will be e-mailed to board members

• The RFP draft was presented and discussed. The focus would be rewritten and presented to the board members.

• Walters proposed calling schools offering 2-year and 4-year programs to participate.
• Schools to offer proposals in Engineering/Engineering Technology & MS in Education with Math and Science focus.
• OLN staff to present plan to the governing board for the $2M allocated

• Only those institutions who have signed the MOU will be able to have courses in the catalog.
• Those who have not signed will be contacted by Carey. 

Student Services at a Distance Task Force

• Sunil Chand will chair new task force. 

• Update on proposal review process was presented; 57 proposals submitted for $1.5M in grants. 

• Brief discussion of need for OLN to find research funds for FYs 02-03.
