Outreach

  • OLN Staff and DLS have made 126 outside contacts during March-April 2000.
Strategic Progress
The following goals were approved: 
1. The Ohio Learning Network will promote statewide development of the technology infrastructure to support distance learning and serve as an advocate for effective policies and funding for that infrastructure. 
2. The Ohio Learning Network will interconnect Ohio's education community to ensure the widespread knowledge and development ofthe technologies, programs, and pedagogy used in those communities. 
3. The Ohio Learning Network will promote the development of distance learning programs needed in the state so that Ohioans can take full advantage of learning options for college degrees, workforce training, and professional development.
OSC Issues
  • Contract needs clarification and renegotiation
  • Mission of OSC too similar to OLN's on webside
  • OSC must partnership with OLN
    • OLN -- brokering
    • OSC -- tech support
Subsidy issues in distance education and technology-mediated instructional methods
  • Further discussion needs to take place among community members
  • Make model: on-line students related to faculty time
Professional Development - RFP Grant Results
  • Board approved reviewer recommendations of $1,239,926.28.
Student Services at a Distance Task Force
  • 4/21 committee meeting set timeline of 12/1/00 for accomplishing statewide strategy.
Catalog Redevelopment Task Force - Final Meeting Results
  • Written report of improvements discussed on 4/20 will be presented to Catalog Coordinators and implementation will begin this summer.
  • Catalog Report
    • OLN Catalog OhioLEARNS! offered 845 courses from 29 institutions during May 1-5
    Budget
    • Board members were presented a first glance at budget numbers for FY01. A formal budget will be brought forward at the July 11 meeting.
