John Seely Brown - From Push to Pull: Higher Education in the Digital Age

Dr. John Seely Brown -- author of The Social Life of Information and self-appointed "Chief of Confusion" -- will give the keynote address From Push to Pull: Higher Education in the Digital Age at the ODCE 2006 Conference on Monday, March 6, 2006.
Part scientist, part artist and part strategist, Dr. Brown's views are unique and distinguished by a broad view of the human contexts in which technologies operate and a healthy skepticism about whether or not change always represents genuine progress. His personal research interests include the impact of globalization on business, the management of radical innovation, digital culture, ubiquitous computing and organizational and individual learning.
Dr. John Seely Brown is currently a visiting scholar at USC. Prior to that, he served as chief scientist of Xerox Corporation and the director of its Palo Alto Research Center for nearly two decades. He is a member of the National Academy of Education and a fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and of AAAS and a trustee of Brown University and the MacArthur Foundation. Dr. Brown received a B.A. from Brown University in 1962 in mathematics and physics and a Ph.D. from University of Michigan in 1970 in computer and communication sciences.

Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at The Ohio Digital Commons for Education 2006 Conference. Dr.
Taylor, a 25-year veteran in higher education, management and the helping
professions will explain the model traits of this new generation and explain
how to cope with the challenges Generation NeXt presents.
Dr. Taylor holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and biology, a master's
degree in social work and a doctorate in counseling, all from the University
of Arkansas. Currently Director of Guidance Services at Arkansas State
University at Beebe, he has been responsible for counseling, disability,
career, testing, academic advising, orientation, housing/residence life,
student activities/leadership, student success programming and other student
services. Dr. Taylor has been licensed as a psychotherapist in Arkansas
since 1981.
