About ODCE 2008

What is ODCE 2008?

ODCE 2008 was the ninth annual Ohio Digital Commons for Education Conference - The Convergence of Learning, Libraries and Technology. ODCE 2008 was held March 2-4, 2008, in Columbus, Ohio. Pre-conference workshops were held on Sunday, March 2.

The conference featured submitted and invited presentations, technology demonstrations, pre-conference workshops and plenary presentations on the themes of:

  • Teaching and Learning in the 21stCentury
  • Student Success
  • Moving Ohio Forward
  • Transforming Technologies

ODCE 2008 included keynote speakers, vendor exhibits and technology demonstrations at Innovation Island.

ODCE 2008 was jointly sponsored by the Ohio Learning Network, OhioLINK, and the Ohio Supercomputer Center / OSCnet.

Who Attends the Ohio Digital Commons for Education Conference?
The Ohio Digital Commons for Education Conference attracts over 300 attendees from across Ohio each year, along with some attendees from outside Ohio. Attendees come from a wide range of higher education positions, including faculty, librarians, instructional designers, distance learning directors, professional development personnel, campus and college technology coordinators, student support personnel and others interested in technology-enabled education initiatives.

What is the Ohio Digital Commons for Education?
The Ohio Digital Commons for Education (ODCE) is a collaborative initiative of the Ohio Learning Network, OhioLINK and the Ohio Supercomputer Center/OSCnet to develop leading-edge education resources, services, and capabilities in Ohio. The commons supports campus sharing of course management system software, instructional materials and electronic educational resources. By sharing common tools and resources, the ODCE provides a cost-effective, competitive advantage in the state.
