Online Communities FAQIf you are having trouble signing off from one of our lists, see the section at the end on subscription problems. What are OLN Online Communities? The Online Communities are places where education professionals can meet and discuss topics of common interest. Each community is supported by a LISTSERV mailing list. To join a community, all you have to do is subscribe to its list. You will then receive all the email messages from the members of the community and you will be able to make your contributions to the discussion by sending messages to the list. Who sponsors these Online Communities? The Ohio Learning Network (OLN), a consortium of Ohio 's colleges and universities, sponsors these online communities as part of its effort to promote the professional development of faculty at OLN member institutions. Who can be a member of the communities?Anyone interested in the topics being discussed is welcome to join. Although the communities are sponsored by an Ohio organization, members are welcome from anywhere in the world and with any kind of interest. How do I join or leave the communities? The list of communities contains links to subscribe or signoff from the community mailing lists. Email to these addresses works automatically; nothing is needed in either the subject line or in the body of the email messages. How do I access the archives of the list for a community? All of the messages that have ever appeared on the lists are stored in the archives. The community descriptions below include links to both search and browse the archives. You can search for messages containing the words you specify, for those from a certain person, or those sent during a limited period of time. There is a link to a help page for advanced searching at the bottom of the search form. It is always a good idea to search the archives before asking a question that may have already been answered on the list. What Communities are available? There are eight OLN Online Communities plus the two NEWS lists: ADJUNCT-SUPPORT - supporting Adjunct Faculty and those who support
Adjuncts. E-PORTFOLIOS - Trends, challenges and benefits of using e-portfolios. ONLINE-TL -
developing and facilitating 100% online courses. INSTDSGN - using instructional design to support

Moderated by Chris Collins, Information Tech Analyst, The University of Cincinnati and Paul Shovlin, Assistant Director for the Center for Writing Excellence and English Instructor, Ohio University Send email to subscribe or signoff from this list Archives: search or browse OLN-NEWS - official notices from OLN . OLN-STUDENTNEWS - updates on new distance degrees, services
for students, and other distance learning news. Subscription ProblemsHaving trouble signing off? LISTSERV keeps track of subscriptions by email addresses. The links we have provided for signing off will work only if the address from which you are sending the email is the same as the address that LISTSERV has for your subscription. If you aren't sure of your subscription address, you may be able to figure it out from the headers of the messages sent to you from the list. If you have any trouble, write to Heather Clevenger and she will take care of the problem. Be sure to tell her exactly what you want done and give her your best guess about the subscription address. Messages not getting through to you? In order to combat spam, some email systems block all bulk email, including messages from our lists. You may need to put the oln.org address on a "white list" so that the email from the lists will be allowed through. If you need help, write to Heather Clevenger. |
