CourseCheck: New Pathways for Engaging Students is a tool for faculty and course designers interested in new ways to engage students. Using the CourseCheck process, they can examine their own teaching methods in the context of the Seven Principles of Good Practice. CourseCheck can be used to review a single course no matter the level or discipline. CourseCheck was developed for those who want to learn more about how the Seven Principles of Good Practice can deepen their knowledge of good teaching practice.

“Instructors are generally motivated to do an excellent job of teaching in an online environment but are not always familiar with what strategies will be most successful in the online teaching environment.”

-- Seven Principles of Effective Teaching: A Practical Lens for Evaluating Online Courses By Charles Graham, Kursat Cagiltay, Byung-Ro Lim, Joni Craner and Thomas M. Duffy (Technology Source)

CourseCheck: New Pathways for Engaging Students was developed in response to recommendations of the OLN Task Force on Quality in Distance Learning. From the report Quality Learning in Ohio and at a Distance (PDF), "As Ohio continues to push forward in e-learning, educators seek to better understand the criteria for course quality and to apply the criteria to the design, development, and delivery of content offered at a distance."
